WHERE FRIENDS HEAL FRIENDS!

Fallon Medical Complex (FMC) takes pride in the quality of the providers on its team. Dr. Edward Moellmer, MD is no exception. Dr. Moellmer treats family members of all ages. A father of six girls, you’ll find that his rapport with your children is second to none. He has a caring nature that makes his young patients feel comfortable and at ease during normally difficult situations. Dr. Moellmer has nearly 20 years of medical experience which include paramedics, radiology, chief of medicine, emergency medicine and family practice.

He is experienced in many areas of family practice including but not limited to pediatrics, health screenings, chronic conditions, preventative care, routine exams including well-baby, well-child visits, and health risk assessments. Dr. Moellmer can evaluate symptoms, and provide referrals to specialists as needed. He also provides emergent and urgent care in FMC’s Emergency Room.

Dr. Moellmer was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He became interested in medicine as he was growing up, watching his grandpa, Dr. Otto Moellmer, practice general medicine in the small town of Rupert, Idaho at the southern end of the state. Rupert is known for its cheese production for Kellogg’s, potato processing for the Idahoan brand, and tire production for Les Schwab.

While attending the University of Utah, Dr. Moellmer majored in English with a minor in Spanish. From there, he attended Weber State University in Ogden, Utah with a strong desire to become a paramedic. This education allowed him to receive his Utah State and National Paramedic Certifications. From there, he worked for an ambulance company in Salt Lake City for three years. Although he enjoyed working as a paramedic, he had a strong desire to broaden his scope of practice, so he applied to medical school at the University of Utah. After acquiring his Medicine Doctor (MD) degree, he did his residency at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Throughout it all, Dr. Moellmer always wanted what his grandfather had -- a family practice position in a rural area. His choice of specializing in family medicine has allowed him to treat the most diverse patient population in the areas where it’s needed most… rural America. He also relishes the challenges presented by the myriad of diseases that spontaneously present themselves. And, as a result of his paramedic background, his heart is firmly rooted in emergency medicine.

Dr. Moellmer and his wife live in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Their six daughters’ range in age from 3 to 19 years old. He is an avid skier and loves hiking. In his downtime, he enjoys gardening.
